Men Set To Begin Quest For CHE Title
THE SLATE:
Saturday February 29th - Semi-Final Games
2:00 pm- #1 University of Pitt-Johnstown vs. #4 Kent State University
4:30 pm- #2 Cal U of PA vs. #3 Indiana University of PA
Sunday March 1st - Championship Game
4:00 pm- Game 1 Winner vs. Game 2 Winner
OVERVIEW: The Vulcans enter this weekend after a tough defeat to George Mason two weekends ago to end the regular season. They’ll face IUP to open up the playoffs a team in which they beat 6-4 and 5-1 this season. The most recent came on February 7th at the Rostraver Ice Garden. This semi-final matchup will be a rematch of last season CHE Championship game which saw the Vulcans win 5-1.
The Vulcans managed to defeat Kent State both times the teams played this year 6-3 and 7-0. As for Pitt-Johnstown, the Vulcans have yet to secure a victory over the Ice Cats yet this season. During the regular season the Ice Cats won both meetings 5-4 and 5-3. The two teams have not played since early December. Since 2007 the Ice Cats are the only team to defeat the Vulcans in the CHE Playoffs in an elimination game. The Vulcans have suffered defeats to Robert Morris when the CHE Championship was a Best of Three series although the Vulcans still went on to win all of those series in three games. In 2014 it was the Ice Cats that defeated the Vulcans in the CHE Championship game at the Center Ice Arena.

Dartmouth and George Mason have both earned an automatic bid to the National Tournament in Frisco Texas in late March. Teams 3-10 will now compete on March 7th and 8th in Wilkes Barre/Scranton for the two remaining spots in the Atlantic Region.
