California, PA- The Vulcans are proud to announce Megan Cooper as the women's program's fifth head coach in team history.  She comes as the club's first female to lead the program behind the bench, a university alumna, and one of the program's most decorated players.  Cooper will be joined on her staff by Maria Sciacca, another member of her class who left the program as the most decorated group of players in program history.  The group assembled an 81-54-12-1 record over their five years.

During the time Cooper and Sciacca spent on the ice, they managed to make five ACHA Division II National Tournaments, a pinnacle that the Vulcans have not reclaimed since their time.  Additionally, they earned two ACHA East Region first-place rankings at the end of the regular season, along with two CHE first-place finishes in the regular season.  The group also claimed one CHE playoff championship.

Both Cooper and Sciacca still claim many records for the women's program to this day.  Cooper has posted the most points by any women's player with 195.  In addition to that, she has played more games than any other skater in the program, with 147.  Sciacca holds nearly every goaltender record listed. She's posted a career 2.26 goals against average, 17 career shutouts, and 60 wins.  However, what is most notable about her statistics is that the 17 shoutouts and 60 career wins are records for the women's team and are records club-wide, including the men's team.

It will be 558 days when the Vulcans hit the ice tomorrow, and they'll do so with a sense of excitement and energy.  A foundation was built and provided to move forward from Coach Gary and Jim, and now the buzz surround the program from what will come with returning to the ice with a fresh new slate.
