Cal 2 Set For Homecoming Contest

Cal 2 and PSU Altoona meet for first time

California, PA- 

THE GAME:  California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (2-1-1, 1-1-1) vs. Penn State Altoona Nittany Lions (1-0, 1-0)

DATE/LOCATION/TIME:  October 21, 2015 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 4:30 p.m.

VULCAN RECAP:  The Vulcans return home after fighting their way to a tie in Buffalo against Daemen College.  Early in the first period the Vulcans surrendered two quick goals to spot Daemen a 2-0 lead.  After closing the door for the remaining 50 minutes the Vulcans scored just under the halfway mark in the third period to make it 2-1.  In a last ditch attempt they pulled goaltender Tallen Stroman for an extra attacker which paid off as the Vulcans Brad Folino scored to secure the tie.

ABOUT PENN STATE:  The Nittany Lions are still relatively unknown in this 2015-16 campaign as they've only played one game so far.  Their opening game came against Daemen College in which they picked up a 10-1 victory.

VULCANS & LIONS HISTORY: The Vulcans and the Nittany Lions have a long history, it just so happens to be that the history is between the Lions and Cal 1.  Wednesday will be the first ever meeting between Cal 2 and Penn State Altoona.  After spending the duration of their existence in the CHE ACHA Division the Nittany Lions decided to drop into the CHE Open Division this past offseason. 

VULCANS LEADING SCORERS:  Through three reported games the Vulcans are led offensively by Jake Blair with two goals and four assists for six points, Cole Bier with one goal and three assists for four points and Patrick Huver with one goal and two assists for three points.  In net the Vulcans are led by Tallen Stroman who is 0-1-1 with a 2.40 GAA and a .906 save percentage.

NITTANY LIONS LEADING SCORES:  The Nittany Lions are led by Nico Gricco with five assists for five points, Mitchell Rupprecht with three goals and one assist for four points and Michael Ludwig with one goal and three assists for four points.
