THE GAME:  #3 California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (17-3-1-2) vs. #10 West Virginia University Mountaineers (10-16-1)

DATE/LOCATION/TIME:  February 24, 2017 ~ York City Ice Arena ~ 5:00 p.m.

BACK TO YORK:  The Vulcans are set to return to York, PA for their second straight trip to the ACHA Atlantic Region Tournament.  Missing out on the auto-bid for the second straight season means the Vulcans must win back-to-back games to earn their way to Columbus in Mid-March.  Last season the Vulcans were able to accomplish that goal by defeating Xavier University and Rowan University each 4-2.

VULCANS & MOUNTAINEERS:  Friday’s contest will mark the third of four contests between the two schools.  The fourth will come a week from Friday, in the opening round of the CHE playoffs.  But first the two will become reacquainted with the National Tournament on the line.  In the first two matchups the Vulcans have won by a combined score of 15-3, 6-1 back in October and 9-2 just a few weeks ago.  In those two contests it was Brady Dolan and Anthony Tonkovich that have led the show.  Dolan has recorded four goals and one assist while Tonkovich has posted three goals and three assists.  Both Vulcans netminders have recorded a victory over the Mountaineers this season, Ryan Lloyd stopping 18 of 19 shots in the first meeting and Tre Lowe stopping 20 of 22 in the second.

VULCANS LEADING SCORERS:  The Vulcans are led offensively by Anthony Tonkovich with 14 goals and 21 assist for 35 points, Brady Dolan with 16 goals and 18 assists for 34 points and Alex Smith with 20 goals and 12 assists for 32 points.  In net the Vulcans are led by Tre Lowe who is 9-1 with a 2.30 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

MOUNTAINEERS LEADING SCORERES:  The Mountaineers are led offensviley by Benjamin Monroe with 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points, Matthew Strober with 19 goals and 12 assists for 31 points and Brian Dickman with 10 goals and 19 assists for 29 points.  In net the Mountaineers are led by Garrett DePippo who is 4-5 with a 5.22 GAA and a .819 save percentage.
