Cal 2 Looks For First Victory

THE GAME:  Friday: California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (0-2, 0-2) vs. Edinboro University Fighting Scots (0-3, 0-3) 

Saturday: California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (0-2, 0-2) vs. Case Western Reserve University Spartans (0-2, 0-2)

DATE/LOCATION/TIME:  November 3, 2017 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 9:45 p.m. ~ November 4, 2017 ~ Cleveland Heights Community Center ~ 8:55 p.m. 

SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE:  The Vulcans can quickly turn around their season with a couple of victories this weekend.  They welcome Edinboro to the Ice Garden on Friday, who last played there when they won the CHE Division 5 Championship last season.  To this point the Fighting Scots have dropped three straight games.  On Saturday the Vulcans travel to Cleveland and face Case Western, also yet to win a game, although their two losses have come to perennial CHE Division 4 power Penn State Altoona.

VULCANS AND FIGHTING SCOTS:  Last season the Vulcans defeated the Fighting Scots 6-4 behind two goals from Chris Schmitt.  They were trailing late in the third period before rattling off three goals in the final two minutes of play to secure the victory.  Josh Bacon picked up the win stopping 28 of 32 shots faced.

VULCANS AND SPARTANS:  The Spartans swept the season series last year with 5-2 and 10-1 victories.  In Cleveland the Vulcans played the Spartans close with Bacon keeping them in the contest stopping 41 of 46 shots faced.  In the second meeting the Vulcans fell behind 9-0 before managing to find the back of the net

VULCANS LEADING SCORERES:  The Vulcans leading scorers are Justin Smith with two goals for two points, Brady Parkinson with one goal for one point and Rick Myers for one assist for one point.  The Vulcans are led in net by Josh Bacon who is 0-2 with a 3.79 GAA and a .840 save percentage.
