California, PA- It wasn’t easy, but the Vulcans swept their final weekend of the regular season to secure their 10th Kaliena Cup.  That honor also earns the Vulcans the top spot in the CHE playoffs in a few weeks.

Tyler Gettel, Mike Fahringer and Pat Huver led the way this weekend each recording two goals, but none larger than Gettel’s game winner on Friday evening in overtime against RMU.  The Vulcans and Colonials saw all three of their regular season matchups take extra time with the Vulcans winning two and the other ending in a tie.

The upcoming CHE playoffs will give the Vulcans and Colonials a chance to play a fourth overtime game this season as the two will meet in the opening round on Friday March 2nd. 

With the CHE playoffs all set and a few weeks off, the Vulcans will turn their attention to the ACHA Atlantic Region.  The final rankings are set to be released live on Wednesday at 12:00 pm.  In the most recent rankings the Vulcans came in at 7th and will need stay in the top 10 to earn a spot at the Regional tournament next weekend.
