Women Drop Two to Mercyhurst

California, PA- The women were back in action this past weekend as they traveled to Erie, PA to face Mercyhurst University for two contests. The first game saw the Vulcans fall behind earlier as the Lakers took a 4-0 lead in the first period only to back that up with two more goals in the second period. Finally in the third period the Vulcans find the back of the net off of the stick of Maureen Gavin as Mercyhurst ends up defeating the Vulcans 10-1, posting 70 shots to the Vulcans 19 on the evening.

On Sunday, the rematch starts off in a similar fashion as the Lakers took a 6-0 lead in the first period. Although the Vulcans managed to answer back in the second period with three goals of their own from Jayda Mears to cut halfway into the Lakers lead. As play went into the third period though the Lakers would add three more goals on their way to a 9-3 victory posting 88 shots compared to the Vulcans 19.

The Vulcans won’t see action again until January 25th as they head into the winter break. When they return back they’ll head into a three game weekend with Pitt (1-25) and Liberty (1-26/27) all at the Rostraver Ice Garden.
