Women Open Spring With Pitt and Liberty

THE GAME:  Friday:California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (1-9-1, 0-5) vs. University of Pittsburgh Panthers (5-10, 3-2)

Saturday/Sunday: California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (1-9-1, 0-5) vs. #10 Liberty University Flames (5-3, 4-0)

DATE/LOCATION/TIME:  January 25, 2019 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 9:45 p.m. ~ January 26, 2019 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 6:45 p.m. ~ January 27, 2019 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 1:30 p.m.

BACK IN ACTION:  The Vulcans are back in action after having not played since November 18thand looking to turn around their season with three huge victories early in the spring semester.  The Vulcans faced Pitt three times in the fall, losing all three contests (10-2, 6-0 and 7-4).  In both of the contests against Liberty the Vulcans also came up short losing both on the road (11-1 and 16-0).  This weekend’s contests will also be the first of the spring semester for Pitt and Liberty.  Currently the Flames of Liberty lead the CHE Women’s South Division with eight points.

VULCANS LEADING SCORERS:  The Vulcans are led offensively by Jayda Mears with nine goals and seven assists for 16 points, Julia O’Dell with six goals and three assist for nine points and Maureen Gavin with three goals and six assists for nine points.  In net the Vulcans are led by Tamara Bobogie who is 1-9-1 with a 7.49 GAA and a .871 save percentage.

PANTHERS LEADING SCORERES:  The Panthers are led offensively by Kristine Earl with 11 goals and eight assists for 19 points, Breanna Doherty with six goals and four assists for 10 points and Katya Hernandez with four goals and one assist for five points..  In net the Panthers are led by Kathryn Rerko who is 5-10 with a 3.07 GAA and a .867 save percentage.

FLAMES LEADING SCORERES:  The Flames are led offensively by Catharine Burrell with six goals and seven assists for 13 points, Brittany Hegele with six goals and five assists for 11 points and Chelsey Greenwood with four goals and five assists for nine points.   In net the Flames are led by Kelly Hutton who is 4-0 with a 0.50 GAA and a .962 save percentage.
