Women and Oswego Face Off in 18-19 Finale

THE GAME:   California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans (1-18-1, 0-8) vs. Oswego State Lakers (2-12, 0-8)

DATE/LOCATION/TIME:  March 2, 2019 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 7:00 p.m. ~ March 3, 2019 ~ Rostraver Ice Garden ~ 1:30 p.m. 

FINAL ACTION:  The Vulcans will hit the ice this weekend for the final time of the 2018-19 campaign after one of their strongest performances of the season last weekend when they faced West Chester University.  Although the Vulcans season has not gone as they had hoped, the opportunity to finish strong is in front of them this weekend with Oswego State at the Ice Garden for two contests.

THANK YOU SENIORS:  The Vulcans would like to thank all four seniors for their accomplishments both athletically and academically while at Cal U.  These women helped to bring back the women’s ice hockey program after its one year hiatus and the contributions they have left on the program will live on for years to come.  Everyone at Cal hockey wishes you all nothing but the best in your future endeavors and hope to see you back in the future.  Thank you Amanda Ambrass, Amanda Slezak, Maureen Gavin and Rachel Oplinger.

VULCANS LEADING SCORERS:  Through 18 report games, the Vulcans are led offensively by Jayda Mears with 16 goals and eight assists for 24 points, Maureen Gavin with seven goals and six assists for 13 points and Julia O’Dell with seven goals and four assist for 11 points.  In net the Vulcans are led by Tamara Bobogie who is 1-18-1 with a 8.74 GAA and a .852 save percentage.

LAKERS LEADING SCORERES:  The Lakers are led offensively by Tahirah Abdo with eight assits for eight points, Lauren Downen with five goals and two assists for seven points and Julia Ahr with four goals and three assists for seven points.  In net the Lakers are led by Katerina Wehe who is 2-5 with a 4.89 GAA and a .885 save percentage.

Alumni Game 2019 Rosters Are Set

California, PA - The draft is complete and the rosters are set for the annual alumni game this Saturday!  The puck is set to drop at 5:15 pm at the Rostraver Ice Garden with the women hosting Oswego State following at approximately 7:00 pm.  Admission for the game is $3 and free for children under 5.

Vulcans Announce 2019 Mini-Camp

2019 Mini-Camp to Coincide with Cal U Open House

California, PA- The Vulcans will be holding their annual Mini-Camp on March 23rd for all interested male and female recruits!  Players will have the opportunity to learn more about the Vulcans ice hockey program, skate with current players and speak to members of the coaching staff. Additionally this year’s Mini-Camp will also coincide with a Cal U Open House! 

All Mini-Camp participants are strongly encouraged to attend the Open House as well which takes place approximately between 8-1:30 pm with various planned sessions and lunch.  Hockey activities will not begin until late afternoon with the men’s players taking the ice from 4-6 pm and the women’s players from 6-8 pm. 

All interested players that have not done so already should also complete a formal recruit formon our website.  Mini-Camp registrations are due no later than March 16thand any registration questions or issues can be directed to locante@calu.edu.  Players can also contact our Recruitment Coordinator, Larry Briggs with any other hockey related questions at larrybriggs022@gmail.com.
